The 2007 Red Bull GP at Laguna Seca was actually my first time attending a road race, and while I did have a camera with me and took a few snapshots, I was more of a spectator than anything else but I was still able to show up in 2008 at least having some idea where I was going. Having explored more of the track this time around, it became immediately apparent that being about 6" taller would have made for considerably more photo opportunities while mental notes along the lines of "must bring stepstool next year" filled my mind all weekend. That weekend, Valentino Rossi showed the world who was boss with "The Pass" and his first MotoGP victory on American soil, setting the tone for the rest of the season on his way to recapturing his 8th world title with 3 races to go. Inspired by Rossi's ride, Mat Mladin dominated the weekend's single AMA Superbike immediately after.
