Road America is the closest track to home and would turn out to be the only non-piggybacked AMA Superbike event that I would attend in 2008. Appropriately nicknamed "Rain America" with great pride by Dave Williams of OnTheThrottle, it would also my first of many rain events that I'd attend. This would also be the first and last time I'd ever get to closely watch a Spies vs Mladin battle without the distraction of larger series at the same event. They came away with one apiece that weekend.
