AMA: Road America Day 2 Race Results and Twitter Report

@OTTeditor Cold morning at Road America, Supersport qualifies at 8:40

@23race Pretty cold here at Road America this morning. We are on-track at 9:10cst.

@DamoCudlin Overcast and cold here this morning, chance of rain in the afternoon. Could be interesting.

@OnTheThrottleTV Good Morning Campers! It's cold out there! A high of 55 predicted for Rain America today. Supersport lads are qualifying on stoney tires now

@OnTheThrottleTV Zemke & Peris DQ'd, as you know, from Superpole yesterday. Some in paddock could smell the fuel fume difference. Others had radar guns

@OnTheThrottleTV 25 riders total in Supersport this weekend. I think the most all year.

@MatMladin quite funny that straight aftr my post last nite, Zemke was DQ'd. They are not the only ones fiddling.

@Meligirl13 brrr... cold in Elkhart... looks like a great day for a rain race!

@23race Full wet here at R.America and light sprinkling. The guys are now going out for a 10 minute practice.

@MsXXFAST Working...waiting for the info on the races...Where is @OnTheThrottleTV v when ya need 'em? ;)

@23race May's start a little too good. Meatball flag and has to ride-thru penalty. Hodgson too.

@23race May DQ'ed for not pitting in within 3 laps of showing meatball. Yates P8 and catching Hayes and Young.

@23race Hayes just came into pits. Yates up to P6

@paradigmracing Race one is about 15 minutes away!! It's raining pretty steady here at Road America...

@paradigmracing Race is delayed slightly...they're saying now that the race will start at 4:45pm (CST), will update if anything changes...

@OnTheThrottleTV Lots of cold scantily clad umbrella girls today http://twitpic.com/6ryzy

@MatMladin I got that wet race I was hoping 4 and fortunately we got the right result too! Hoping 4 dry tomorw. bit of both 4 the weekend wld b great.

@MsXXFAST Woo Hoo!! Looks like 18th in Superbike!! Boy, you have GOT to get a superbike engine! CONGRATS!

@paradigmracing Russ Wikle had a major high-side that brought out the safety car

@paradigmracing Bikes are crashing all over the place!

@superbikeplanet Second safety car session in Elkhart DSB race ... it's raining pretty hard.

@MsXXFAST @ShawnHigbee just got 7th!!! TAKE THAT BITCHES!!!!!!!!!! Now give that boy a real engine!!

@Meligirl13 Big highside on first lap of warmup in rain... LOL. I'm that guy. Err girl. Started race 2 laps down.

@chazdavies Crashed out of the lead on lap 1. Little too aggressive on initial braking and down I went. Disapointed with myself and for the team.

@chazdavies BUT... @michaellaverty stuck her on the box (2nd) in SBK today so that just about makes up for my disapointment. :-)

@BenBostrom Got smoked today. Double M and Michael Laverty thru down! Prepare myself for a good fight 2moro. Met Eugene Laverty at Miller, cool bros.

@ShawnHigbee Wow what an turbulent day.....wiped out and need some sleep but will tweet some a recap of track action tomorrow morning.

Mat Mladin threw his podium hat away, and perhaps to cover it up Ben Bostrom threw his into the crowd. Then Michael Laverty got teased for not throwing his at all. Considering he put a newly built bike on the podium on its first time out, second only to Mat Mladin no less, he probably will probably be tossing hats soon enough.

As already stated in the Twitter updates, both Neil Hodgson and Geoff May jumped the start with May getting disqualified for failing to serve the ride-through penalty and Josh Hayes DNF'd. Aaron Gobert also crashed.

Welcome back Doug Polen.

Lost count of how many crashes, including the Transformers liveried Aprilia of Ben Thompson. The race featured two pace car periods and ended wth a two-lap sprint to the finish. Chris Peris seems to be having an interesting weekend so far with qualifying 3rd in Superpole, getting disqualified from that position, building a 20+ second lead in the race (on spec fuel this time), having the lead wiped out by the 2nd safety car session, then still winning the race by 7.566 seconds, and capped off with a phonecall from his dad while in the winner's circle.

Tomorrow is another day.
