AMA Superbike: Daytona 200 - Day 3

I admit I sort of dragged my feet today after the previous two long days. I showed up approximately a couple hours before the start of the Daytona 200 and did the public track/grid walk which I had totally forgotten about but luckily wound up at. Here's me awkwardly trying to stand on the steep banking of the track, and even more awkwardly trying to smile. Ugh.

Walking on the grid was pretty amazing, just wished I had a better short lens. Of course somehow I decided not to use my speedlight for reasons along the lines of inexperience and utter lack of common sense. Result: barely any usable shots, except for maybe this one:

BTW that's Shawn Higbee with his near-bonestock Buell 1125R and Marianne Guarena on the left. I got to meet up with them briefly yesterday, both very cool people. Shawn went on to finish 5th in the Daytona 200 and needless to say was the top finishing privateer. Make sure to keep an eye on him this season, especially after he starts upgrading his bikes.

Meanwhile during the race, I was yet again stuck shooting from the same spot, so nothing really new. This is the only semi-interesting/different shot I got, altho it won't exactly put me on the map.

Anyway, long story short it's all more of the same. I essentially only found one viable spot to shoot from the whole time I was here, kind of disheartening altho the track's reputation in those regards had preceded my visit. I still have yet to upload any pictures in the portfolio section since it'll probably take me a few days to sift thru everything. Hopefully I can make it semi-interesting...
