AMA Superbike: Daytona 200 - Day 2

Another long day, altho considerably more eventful. Started off by locating the one other spot on the track with a clear view and again shot most of the on-track photos there. Way too tired to look thru them all, but they pretty much look something like this, give or take # of bikes. Ho hum:

What wasn't ho hum was that shortly after snapping that picture, Chaz Davies strolled by. Super nice guy.

And this is Chaz when he's not busy standing next to me:

And here's me with Scott Jensen...

... and Andrew Wheeler. He's all smiles and friendly in the picture, little does he know I'll be stealing his job someday. Just kidding. Maybe.

Also ran into Brian Nelson later but didn't get a chance to get a pic with him. Nice guy too. Anyway, that's enough pictures of me for the year.

So I admit I'm not entirely familiar with all the rule changes and the new class format still seems kind of funny to me but boy does it make for some exciting racing for a change. Being fairly new-ish to the domestic road racing scene, it was easily one of the best "AMA" Superbike race I've ever seen. Impressive that even with a more leveled playing field Mladin was still able to come out on top, albeit by a considerably smaller margin.

Inevitably, the sun went down as it does everyday and on came the lights for Daytona Sportbike Superpole. At this location the bikes were a little better lit and I was able to get some non-throwaway shots this time. Still working on finding the optimal settings to use, but the F/2.8 lens is definitely a big help so far.

Please don't mind the choppy update. Blogging while falling asleep is difficult... Good night.
