2008 Recap: Laguna Seca
This was actually my second time at Laguna Seca, having gone there in 07. While I had brought a camera along the first time, I was mostly just a spectator who occasionally snapped off a few shots here and there altho I did pick up a few useful tidbits that came in handy last year. Kind of like the fact that it takes forever to walk from the bottom of the hill up to the corkscrew. My goodness.
I can't believe I tried in earnest to get this shot. Yes, I thought it would be funny to get a wing to grow out of Neil's back. Don't ask.
One particularly frustrating aspect of shooting there was my height, or a mild lack of it. Just a couple more inches would have made all the difference. I made do with piling up sandbags (not sure why there were so many laying around) or on a few occasions I just kind of gave up and held the camera up in the air and panned blindly. The latter method worked out surprisingly alright in a few cases, such as this:

Race day arrives, and of course with my luck this was the one day I decided NOT to hang out at the corkscrew and in doing so missed seeing "The Pass". I didn't even know exactly what happened until a few days later when I downloaded the race to watch it in its entirety. I'll just have to settle for this shot from Friday morning practice:
